Get Out of the Boat

April promises to be an exciting month as we continue our series of special services built around the theme "Get Out of the Boat". As with the first in our series of 5 special Sundays (our March 30th event with Rev. Sharon Schwab featuring special music by Shane Oschman), these special events will take place at Heckathorn Church and will include a time for fellowship, special music, and guest speakers. The evenings will be casual and will take place in the church social rooms (basement). Each evening will start off with a light supper at 6:00 and the service will conclude at 7:30. All are invited. Bring family and friends. Here's what's coming up in April.

April 6 - Rev. John Bower, pastor at Hasson Heights Presbyterian Church

Greetings from Pastor Pat

Greetings in the name of our Risen Lord! As we begin the month of April, we have already had our First Special Event. What an exciting time in the life of the Church! We have heard the story of the Resurrection and now we are beginning to take a step of faith, to make a choice in our desires, to commit to get out of the boat. As we continue through this month with our Special Events, let us commit to seek the presence of the Holy Spirit by putting aside the following four Sunday evenings to be able to:

1. Pray
2. Attend
3. To Be Open To The Holy Spirit
4. To Commit
5. To Live A Life Of Christ

I believe we as a church, we as people, must find out what God wants us to do and to do it. We need to listen to God and then respond to God's call. We as people of God must listen to the Holy Spirit for ourselves and then to move forward in the ministry of the Risen Christ. We need to strive for a deeper relationship with Christ and to seek the qualities like Trust, Connection, Support and Understanding. I believe that it is important that we listen to one another. As a church, we must be the ones setting what and how we can work together in sharing the Easter Message.

My questions to each of you are:

1. What is your deepest passion? What really satisfies and fulfills you?
2. What energizes you? What drains your energy?
3. What legacy do you want to leave as a Church? What do you want to be remembered for as a Church?
4. What are your strengths? Where are you gifted?
5. What's one thing you would like to change about yourself?

Please prayerfully answer these questions, and then after prayerfully answering these questions, ask God to guide and direct you in assisting our Church in the Mission and Ministry that we need to be about, and then let us do it. Let us all get out of the boat, let us all move forward, and let us all work together and share the Good News! Jesus Christ is Risen and He is Alive!

Youth Happenings

Hey, everybody.

The youth will meet at the church Sunday, April 20, for a short lesson. Then we'll assist with preparations for the light dinner before the evening's program.

We have some really exciting things coming up this summer. We will have a BMX demo in June or July. Details as soon as we nail them down. And Bible School is the week of July 13! You all have been a huge help in the past and we look forward to it again this year.

And the really huge news is that Todd Agnew will be in concert at the Oil City High School on August 22nd and 23rd. Our youth group is assisting in sponsorship of this event and the group will pay for your admission. Also, an outdoor concert is planned for September 5th.

See you in worship.
